Similar in style to Florensia and Pirates of the Burning Sea, Bounty Bay Online offers a traditional sea-fairing adventure in the form of a Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Game (MMORPG). In essence, you'll begin by creating a character using one of the 5 class options available: each of these choices will greatly affect your experience, so choose wisely!
For example, if you were to choose to play as a Merchant you wouldn't be expected to excel in combat. Your goals would be much different to that of an Adventurer or Pirate, as you'd be responsible for shipping goods between nations in order to generate a huge profit. Of course, Pirates, who belong to no nation, generate their income by encountering your vessel during shipping, slaughtering the crew, looting your merchandise and selling it for themselves. As a merchant, you'll be required to hire the help of other players to guard your ship while it is transporting goods; and thus, the Sailor is born.
Or perhaps you'd prefer to explore the land in search of treasure and uncover the mysteries of the world. Such is the life of an adventurer, skilled in various modes of combat, and always available to help others -- for the right price. Though, if you prefer a quiet life, perhaps the Fisherman is for you. Skilled in crafting, the Fisherman assumes the role of the crafter in many cases, and will spend his days in search of ores and lumbers to create only the best equipment.
As you can see, Bounty Bay Online is something very unique in the world of MMORPGs; it offers choice on a variety of levels, but still manages to incorporate a good selection of traditional, and unique gameplay elements. On the traditional side of the fence you have questing, crafting, PvE and PvP combat, Guilds (thousand of them, literally), group dungeon instances and 4 enormous content expansions. However, on the unique side, you have a whole lot more.
Earlier I mentioned trading; traditionally this is a process of talking to another player, giving him an item, and taking one in return; however, in Bounty Bay Online this process is much more in-depth. Trading in BBO refers to the process of obtaining good in one place and transporting them to another. This is backed by a territory system that allows players and guilds to take control of many of the 60 available towns and harbors , or even create and found their own! As such, the prices for goods in one place (protected by a guild in good standing, perhaps) may be very different from the prices of goods in another (say, one known for being surrounded by pirates). Do you have the courage and the strength to make a successful trade?
Of course, that's really only the tip of the iceberg. Add to that system the option to quest and explore hundreds of authentic, high-quality locations (such as the pyramids of Giza or the Taj Mahal), hundreds of authentic ship models and equipment options, and you quite literally have a whole new world to conquer and explore, making Bounty Bay Online of the of most epic MMORPG titles on the market today.
