Fliplife is 2.5D Isometric MMO that allows you to take control of a Sim-Style character and build a new life. Fliplife can be played directly through Facebook, and requires no download. Similar to the critically acclaimed MMO Second Life, Fliplife will see you navigate a lifelike world with your own personally created avatar to find your dream job, pursue a dangerous career, play sports, party with neighbours – and most importantly, make hundreds of new friends.

If you’ve played Second Life or The Sims, you’ll feel right at home in the world of Fliplife. Many of the same concepts apply in all of these titles: namely, they feature a world very similar to ours, filled with houses, cars, parks, trees and entertainment. Your goal as a Fliplife player will be to enjoy them all.

When you first begin playing, you’ll be asked to create a character. There are hundreds of options available, ranging from hair and skin colour to accessories and body styles. After you’ve decided, you’ll need to create your passport, and then choose your career. To begin with, you’ll be given the option between 6 available jobs: a Dishwasher, Test Subject, Bedpan Cleaner, Grid Girl, Pickpocket or Hack Writer.

Of course, that doesn’t guarantee you a job. First, you’re going to need to prove yourself, and to do that, you’ll complete your first mission. In order to complete missions you’ll need to expend energy, and in order to gain energy, you’ll need to wait. The longer your avatar is idle, the more energy you can accumulate. Once a job’s time frame has depleted, you will gain new skills and open up new pathways to additional jobs. It’s a ‘rinse and repeat’ cycle that will eventually see you climb the corporate ladder and gain access to better positions and an improved quality of life.

Due to Facebook integration, everything you do in Fliplife can be posted to Facebook and Twitter to let your friends know how you’re progressing. This essentially creates a ‘network’ of players that you know, and is one of Fliplife’s most appealing elements. The social network created by consistently updating and improving your avatar is amazing; before you know it you’ll be partying with friends you haven’t seen in years, and re-creating connections that otherwise may have been lost forever.

Though, as a writer myself, I personally enjoyed the text in Fliplife the most. It’s crisp, well presented, and often hilarious. It helps draw you into a world that you’ll likely spend the next few months of your life in; and to be honest, it’s a pretty good place to live!

In essence, Fliplife is a low-demand, high-quality SIM MMO. You create a virtual ‘you’, and live the life you’ve always dreamed of without the need for a download or lengthy signup procedure – you can literally begin playing in less than a minute!
