"Mir2," also known as "The Legend of Mir II: The Legend Continues," is a game that was one of the most popular MMORPGs in Asia. Sadly, back at the turn of the century when people tried to bring it to Western audiences, it just never caught fire and sputtered out. Fast forward to 2009, and Gamepot USA is giving the game a second chance. Even when it came out in 2001, "Mir2" looked old. Modeled after the PC RPGs of the late 1990s, the game is presented in an isometric view, and functions primarily via mouse clicks. While it was still decent looking in 2001, this game will now appeal to those who love the "old school" feeling. The game features four classes: Warrior, Taoist, Wizard, and Assassin. Assassin is the newest of the classes, and it certainly plays that way, being the only nearly entertaining one of the bunch. The other three are very straightforward, simplistic classes that no gamer -- even a casual one -- will have any trouble at all mastering.

As previously mentioned, "Mir2" features mouse controls, which may be difficult for some. Pathfinding is difficult at times, and running being a chore. Combat also uses the mouse, and while you do get spells and skills, for most battles here's how it plays out: left click a monster and wait. Eventually, it will die, or you will get hurt, use potions, or run. The Assassin is the only class that has any "modern" gameplay controls, and even then you can still just click and wait and be fine. Right now, the game has its players, but they're hard to come by at any given time. With Gamepot's new efforts, hopefully we will see this change soon. Watch out for gold sellers (they're easy to spot, because they have names like "ASO130no10.") So who is "Mir2" for? Three crowds: those who still haven't moved on after the English "Mir2" services were canceled, those with PCs/netbooks that have low system requirements, or those who are adamant that a feeling of nostalgia is more important than the graphics. If you've played any of the MMORPGs on the market from "EverQuest" and on, "Mir2" is not revolutionary, but it is free, fun, and requires extremely low system specs.
